A musical telling the story of the Pharisee, Nicodemus, who came to Jesus secretly at night and was told that he must be 'born again'. The musical follows the journey of discovery made by Nicodemus and his household, from the baptism of Jesus to the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. The musical comprises eighteen songs, and lasts approximately 70 minutes with narration. Soloists required: Nicodemus, Ruth, Abigail, Deborah, Joseph of Arimathea, John the Baptist, small group of singers (SATB), Narrator, plus full SATB choir. The SATB choir sing in 16 of the 18 songs. This musical is one of the more challenging of Rogerīs works and due to its length is probably not suitable for performance as part of a church service. With the exception of Abigail (Nicodemus' daughter), who should ideally be played by a teenager, the musical is best suited to performance by adults. The musical can be performed as a fully staged production with drama or a concert version with narration.
