'Pull yourself together!

''Don't get so emotional.''

"It's a sin to be depressed."

''Pray for a stronger faith.''

You need to seek forgiveness."

Are you depressed? If so, is this the kind of advice you have received from you Christian friends? Or perhaps you have tried to help a depressed friend with similar advice. Has it helped? If not, why not?

Here is a practical book written by a Christian doctor for depressed Christians, their families, friends and fellow church members. The book sets out to answer specific questions such as:

  • What is depression?

  • Why should Christians get depressed when they have an all-powerful God on their side?

  • Why does the church often cause extra problems?

  • How should Christians go about tackling depression?

Customer Reviews

The best book I have read on this subject !
I have owned this book for a number of years, bought on the recommendation of my brother in law. I have found it to be an excellent resource both for the person who is depressed and those who want to help. One of the first things you find in this book is that it immediately takes away the condemnation that so many depressed christians experience either from themselves or well meaning christian brothers and sisters. I personally felt a sense of relief when I read this book . I did not read it all in one go ,but used it to answer to the many questions I had. It has certainly helped me many times and my copy has been lent out so many times I have trouble keeping track of it's whereabouts. A very worthwhile resource, worth every penny!
