Hope is the first Hillsong album to be recorded in the Convention Centre, which was officially opened in October 2002 by the Prime Minister of Australia, the Hon. John Howard. In his opening address Mr Howard stated, "It is a remarkable testimony that at 6 o'clock on a Saturday evening, in a suburb of Sydney, you can gather a congregation such as this."
The new facility was filled to capacity on both album nights, during which a total of 17 songs were recorded - almost two hours of worship. Many who were unable to get inside spilled over onto the lawns outside. After the second night, worship pastor Darlene Zschech, together with a small team of musicians, led worship with the hundreds who had been watching the worship on a large screen outside.
