The extraordinary story of the recovery from the years of depression and exhaustion that followed the arrest and torture of the English doctor, Sheila Cassidy, in Chile. Sheila Cassidy was working as a doctor in Chile when in September 1973 the left-wing government was overthrown in a military coup led by General Augusto Pinochet.
Asked by a priest to treat a man who had been shot, and who could not go to hospital for fear of arrest, Dr. Cassidy provided aid. The injured man turned out to be the second in command of the left wing forces. Within a week, Dr. Cassidy herself was arrested by Chilean authorities, and tortured.
